Yoga
Yoga for Fertility

Yoga for Fertility is a journey into the healing powers of yoga and how this ancient practice can help calm the body, nourish the reproductive organs, clear the mind and lighten the heart.  We integrate postures, breathing, meditation, and visualization exercises to help enhance fertility and prepare the body for pregnancy.

Benefits of Yoga for Fertility include:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Nourish the reproductive organs through increased blood flow to the pelvis
  • Deep relaxation
  • Improve hormonal balance
  • Detoxify body tissues
According to experts, yoga can help encourage fertility by promoting healthier functioning of the hypothalamus gland, the area of the brain involved in stimulating hormone production.  Studies have also shown that practicing yoga regularly may help promote more regular menstrual cycles, keep reproductive hormones in balance, and alleviate the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.

Wednesdays, 5:00-6:15pm

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal Yoga is all about strengthening your body and spirit, while finding a measure of comfort and community.  Prenatal yoga is a great way to train for labor and to enhance the experience of pregnancy.  Asanas, the physical postures, can help build strength and stamina and improve circulation.  Meditation can improve the ability to relax and concentrate.  Pranayama, breathing exercises, can help manage the  pain of contractions.

Benefits of Prenatal Yoga include:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Increase strength, stamina, flexibility, circulation, and balance
  • Minimize swelling, back and leg pain, and insomnia
  • Nourish the uterus and developing fetus through increased blood flow to the pelvis
  • Deep relaxation
  • Learn to trust the body's innate wisdom for birth
  • Overall toning and muscle strength
  • Reduce fatigue
Just as the Earth sustains all life, a mother-to-be provides a life-sustaining environment for her baby.  A prenatal yoga class creates an environment that nurtures the nurturer.  At a time when you may feel tired, moody, nauseous, and out of control, a regular yoga practice can give you the energy to enjoy your pregnancy, the serenity to build a deeper intimacy with your own body and spirit, and also the presence of mind to expect the unexpected and be fully present for the miracle of birth.
